The AAO has posted it’s At-a-Glance Guide to CDT 2022 that includes all of the latest changes and refinements to the CDT Code for dental procedures and terminology.

The updated American Association of Orthodontists resource, “At-a-Glance Guide to CDT 2022,” has been posted on the member website and is available at no cost to AAO members.

The guide features many of the codes most used in orthodontic practices.

An initiative of the AAO’s Council on Orthodontic Health Care, the resource includes important information from the American Dental Association’s Code on Dental Procedures and Nomenclature (CDT Code).  CDT 2022 is effective for services provided on or after January 1, 2022, through December 31, 2022.

The new code set should simplify coding for orthodontists, according to the AAO. These changes include eliminating the codes for “Interceptive” treatment and modifying the “Limited” definition, effectively merging the codes.

The AAO and its Council on Orthodontic Health Care are preparing a webinar on the CDT, coding for orthodontic procedures, and the upcoming changes.  Further details about that event will be shared in the near future.

Additional coding and billing information can be found by visiting the Insurance Claims page on the AAO website.
