Dr Kim-Weroha will succeed AAO president elect Dr Michael Durbin as the Midwestern Society of Orthodontists representative following the 2026 House of Delegates meeting.
Nellie Kim-Weroha, DDS, will become the Midwestern Society of Orthodontists (MSO) representative on the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) Board of Trustees. Her term will begin at the conclusion of the 2026 AAO House of Delegates meeting on May 3.
The MSO elected Kim-Weroha to succeed current AAO president elect Michael Durbin, DDS, MS, in the role.
Leadership and Committee Experience
Kim-Weroha is a past president of the MSO and the Minnesota Association of Orthodontists. She also previously served as chair of the MSO delegation to the AAO House of Delegates.
She was a member of the AAO’s Task Force on Women Orthodontists, where she helped establish the Women Orthodontists Networking Session (WONS) at the 2019 AAO Annual Session. She also served on the 2019 Annual Session Planning Committee and joined the AAO Committee on Conferences & Meetings (CCon) in 2020. Kim-Weroha was vice chair of CCon for 2023-24 and chair for 2024-25. Additionally, she served on the AAO Special Committee on Women Orthodontists and chaired the AAO Special Committee on Constituent Collaboration in 2023-24.
Professional and Academic Background
Kim-Weroha is currently a partner at GLK Orthodontics in Rochester, Minn. She completed her orthodontic residency, Doctor of Dental Surgery degree, an advanced education in general dentistry residency, and a Master of Science degree in bone biology at the University of Missouri – Kansas City (UMKC).
Her master’s thesis, “Regulation of Sclerostin Expression in Osteocytes by PGE2 and Mechanical Loading,” was presented at an American Society for Bone and Mineral Research meeting and received the UMKC Distinguished Master’s Thesis Award.
Board Certification
A Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO), Kim-Weroha has served as an ABO examiner since 2020 and was an ABO ambassador from 2024 to 2025.
