Smartee Denti-Technology launched the Smartee Sleep Aligners, a clear aligner system designed to treat obstructive sleep apnoea hypopnoea syndrome and primary snoring.
Smartee Denti-Technology announced the global release of its new Smartee Sleep Aligners, a clear aligner system aimed at managing obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) and primary snoring (PS). The series includes two devices: the Smartee SA, targeting sleep-related breathing disorders, and the Smartee SA Plus, which combines OSAHS treatment with orthodontic correction.
Focus on Airway Management
OSAHS is among the most common sleep-related breathing disorders. It often begins with habitual snoring due to airway narrowing and can progress to repeated nighttime breathing interruptions. These interruptions are linked to poor sleep quality and increased cardiovascular and metabolic health risks.
The Smartee Sleep Aligners use a digitally customized design with a dual-splint locking system to advance the mandible and stabilize the jaw. This repositioning expands the velopharyngeal and oropharyngeal airways, enhancing airflow and reducing OSAHS symptoms, according to the company. It also improves tongue base positioning, further reducing airway obstruction.
The device is fabricated from a 1 mm-thick dental sheet, designed to minimize discomfort and foreign body sensation, improving patient compliance.
Smartee SA and SA Plus Devices
The Smartee SA is indicated for simple snoring, mild-to-moderate OSAHS, and for patients who are intolerant of CPAP therapy or not suitable for surgery. The company says it works by advancing the mandible to enlarge airway volume. Titration helps clinicians identify the optimal mandibular setting for each patient.
The Smartee SA Plus is for patients with both mild-to-moderate OSAHS and minor anterior misalignment. During the day, the device functions as a regular clear aligner for correcting anterior teeth. At night, it helps maintain airway patency with the mandibular advancement feature.
Global Availability
Both Smartee SA and SA Plus aligners are available worldwide through the Smartee Case Management System.
