The Invisible Orthodontist has appointed Tim Donoghue as CEO to lead its global strategy focused on technology-driven transformation for orthodontic practices.

The Invisible Orthodontist (TIO), a global network supporting orthodontic practices, has appointed Tim Donoghue as its new chief executive officer. Previously the organization’s chief operating officer, Donoghue takes the helm as TIO looks to expand its mission of making practices more efficient, profitable, and prepared for the future.

“Tim is the right leader for this moment. He understands the pressure practice owners are under, and he’s laser-focused on the tools, strategies and systems that actually move the needle,” said Nick Duncan, chairman of the board. “This next phase of TIO will be our boldest yet and Tim is the right person to lead it.”

Strategic Focus on Workflow Integration and AI

Under Donoghue’s leadership, TIO plans to deepen its role in reshaping orthodontic practice operations by embedding advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, directly into clinical and business workflows. These enhancements build on the group’s existing initiatives, such as proprietary CRM tools, aligner system integration, and remote monitoring solutions.

“Our members are the heart of everything we do,” said Donoghue. “TIO has never just taught what to do—we build and embed the tools orthodontic organisations need to thrive at scale. Our mission is clear: scout, test, and deliver the most impactful technological solutions that solve real pain points and give our members a clear edge in a rapidly changing industry.”

Member-Centric Strategy for a Changing Industry

As the orthodontic landscape continues to evolve, TIO says it is reaffirming its commitment to helping member practices differentiate through innovation and execution. According to the company, key priorities under Donoghue include:

  • Smarter marketing systems responsive to changing patient behavior and digital trends
  • Next-generation technology integration, including AI-powered tools
  • Field-tested growth strategies based on results from over 150 practices across seven countries
  • Close, ongoing partnership with practices, moving beyond a traditional agency model
