ProDriveSystems Inc, Montreal, has received a patent for its nonrounddental bur and locking turbine from the US Patent Office. According tothe company, when engaged, the system prevents rotation of the burinside the turbine, resulting in greater torque transfer.
The system is a turbine upgrade and is compatible with the Kavo®,Midwest®, Sirona®, Star Dental®, andW&H® brand handpieces, allowing orthodontists to continueusing their current handpieces. The device features double groovesalong the burs and a lock mechanism designed to aid in bur retention.
ProDrive Systems has obtained patents in the United States, as well as 37international regions.
