Dr Roberto Hernández-Orsini has been appointed president of the American Board of Orthodontics for the 2025-2026 term, with Dr P. Emile Rossouw named president-elect and Dr Anthony M. Puntillo as secretary/treasurer.


The American Board of Orthodontics (ABO) named Roberto Hernández-Orsini, DMD, MPH, MS, of Juana Díaz, Puerto Rico, as president for the 2025-2026 term, effective April 27. He is joined by P. Emile Rossouw, MChD, PhD, of Rochester, NY, as president-elect, and Anthony M. Puntillo, DDS, MSD, of Chesterton, Ind, as secretary/treasurer. Jae Hyun Park, DMD, MSD, MS, PhD, of Phoenix, Ariz, now serves as immediate past resident.

Each ABO Director serves an 8-year term representing one of the eight American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) constituent organizations, culminating in the role of president. Hernández-Orsini represents the Middle Atlantic Society of Orthodontists (MASO).

As ABO President, Hernández-Orsini also chairs the ABO Finance and Executive Committees and serves as liaison to several key organizations, including the AAO, College of Diplomates of the ABO, Graduate Orthodontic Resident Program (GORP), World Federation of Orthodontists (WFO), and the Society of Educators (SOE). He maintains a private practice in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, and holds academic appointments at the University of Puerto Rico and the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Rossouw, who will serve as president-elect, is chair of the Division of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics at the Eastman Institute for Oral Health. He brings more than four decades of teaching, research, and clinical leadership, with previous appointments at UNC, Texas A&M, and the University of Toronto.

Puntillo, the new secretary/treasurer, is founder of Puntillo & Crane Orthodontics in northwest Indiana. An early adopter of digital orthodontics, he has contributed to numerous AAO technology initiatives, including the AI Task Force. He is a board-certified examiner and a past president of the Midwest Component of the Edward H. Angle Society of Orthodontists.
