The Association for Dental Safety recently recognized infection control leaders and rising professionals at its 2025 Annual Conference, honoring contributions in education, research, and volunteerism.


The Association for Dental Safety (ADS), formerly known as OSAP, presented its 2025 Leadership Awards during the Annual Conference held in May in Orlando, Fla. The awards honored individuals who have demonstrated significant contributions to infection control, dental safety, education, and volunteer service.

Lifetime Achievement: Jackie Dorst, RDH

Jackie Dorst received the Dr James J. Crawford Award, a lifetime achievement honor recognizing major contributions in science, education, or public policy related to infection control and dental safety. With more than 3 decades of service, Dorst was recognized for her impact on global education and policy, as well as her role in training thousands of dental professionals.

Service Excellence: Liliana Donatelli, BS, MBA, MPH, CDIPC

Liliana Donatelli was honored with the Dr Milton Schaefer Award, which recognizes outstanding service to ADS. Donatelli’s leadership in expanding ADS’s international footprint, including her efforts at CIOSP 2025 and collaborations in Brazil, earned her the award.

Rising Leader: Monica Satake, CDA, EFDA, CDIPC, BSEd, MHE

Monica Satake received the Emerging Infection Control Leader Award. Satake has contributed to infection control policy development and staff training, particularly in VA dental clinics. She was also recognized for her educational initiatives addressing human trafficking within dentistry.

Volunteer Service: Jen Hawley Price, MAS, MS

The Bette & Paul Schwarz Award for Volunteerism was awarded to Jen Hawley Price, Chief Partnership and Engagement Officer at the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) and the DALE Foundation. Her efforts have advanced infection control resources and fostered collaboration within the dental safety community.

Chair Citations for Special Contributions

ADS Chair Ramneek Rai, DDS, 2024–2025, issued Chair Citation Awards to several professionals and staff members. Honorees included Eve Cuny, MS, CDIPC; Karen Gregory, RN, CDIPC; David Reznik, DDS, ICD; and Sarah Stream, MPH, CDIPC, CDA, FADAA, for their work on the 2025 Dental Infection Control Boot Camp. Staff citations were given to Ashley Quackenbush, MPH, CHES; Natalia Hurd, CMP; Emily Hammonds, MA; and Michelle “MK” Sisco.

Research Excellence: Dr Richard Hankins

The Dr James A. Cottone Award for Excellence in Investigative Research went to Richard Hankins, MD, MS, for his poster presentation titled “Impact of Leadership in Infection Control: Insights from a National Dental Healthcare Personnel Survey.” His co-authors included Mounica Soma, BDS, MHA, MS, CDIPC; Juan Teran-Plasencia, MD; M. Salman Ashraf, MBBS; and Sarah Stream, MPH, CDIPC, CDA, FADAA.
