HuFriedyGroup has appointed Robert Woolley as CEO, succeeding Andy Xilas, who will remain with the company as a senior advisor.

HuFriedyGroup announced a leadership change, naming Robert Woolley as chief executive officer. He replaces Andy Xilas, who is stepping down after more than 35 years with the company, including nearly 4 years as CEO.

Xilas to Serve as Senior Advisor

Xilas began serving as CEO in January 2021. During his tenure, he led HuFriedyGroup through major changes, including its separation from STERIS plc to become an independent global dental products company. Under Xilas’s leadership, the company expanded internationally and integrated new dental brands.

Xilas will remain with HuFriedyGroup as a senior advisor to the board.

Woolley Brings MedTech Experience

Woolley joins HuFriedyGroup from Sonova Group, where he served as group vice president of hearing instruments. He previously held senior executive roles at Straumann Group, including executive vice president for North America and Western Europe.

His background also includes leadership roles at Medtronic, Trivascular, and Stryker, with a focus on commercial strategy, product innovation, and operations in U.S. and European markets.

Woolley holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Brigham Young University and an MBA from Harvard University.
