Pearl has introduced Imagecheck, a real-time AI solution that provides immediate quality assurance for 2D dental X-rays at the point of capture.
Pearl announced the launch of Imagecheck, an AI-powered dental radiograph quality assurance tool that provides real-time feedback on 2D dental X-rays. The product is designed to integrate directly into clinical imaging workflows and offer immediate, automated assessments of image quality before patients leave the chair.
AI Detects Radiographic Errors Instantly
Imagecheck uses computer vision to detect common radiographic errors, including cone cuts, over- and underexposure, excessive overlap, missing root tips, blurriness, and improper angulation. Clinical staff receive instant visual alerts and overlays to help them retake substandard images during the appointment, reducing the need for follow-ups.
Clinical and Financial Benefits
By ensuring that radiographs meet diagnostic standards, Imagecheck helps improve diagnostic accuracy and treatment planning. It also supports medicolegal documentation and helps practices maintain regulatory compliance. Pearl notes that poor-quality radiographs are often rejected by insurers, and that Imagecheck can help increase claim approvals by ensuring high-quality submissions.
“Radiographs are a foundation of diagnosis, treatment, and reimbursement in dentistry,” said Ophir Tanz, CEO of Pearl. “With Imagecheck, we’re closing a critical gap in the imaging workflow by ensuring that every X-ray captured is clinically sound. This translates directly to better care, stronger patient trust, fewer claim denials, and improved efficiency across the dental practice.”
Reporting and Training Insights
In addition to real-time alerts, Imagecheck provides reporting capabilities to track performance across multiple providers, offices, or entire organizations. These insights can help identify training needs, standardize imaging practices, and reduce inconsistencies, particularly in settings with high staff turnover such as DSOs and dental schools.
Availability and Integration
Imagecheck is currently offered to select customers as an add-on to Pearl’s Second Opinion product. Pearl plans to integrate the solution with leading imaging and practice management platforms. With regulatory approvals in over 120 countries, the product is available globally to dental practices, DSOs, and academic institutions.
