According to an article in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Robert Pickron, DDS, of Pickron Orthodontic Care, Norcross, Ga, turns his patients’ lost and broken retainer fees into charitable contributions. Rather than paying Pickron for these office visits, patients write a check to support one of five local charitable organizations, which are part of Pickron’s Project Smile fund-raiser.
The charitable organizations include Rainbow Village, Georgia Center for Children, Prevent Child Abuse-Georgia, Project Open Hand, and VolleyFest. Pickron matches each contribution and replaces his patients’ retainers at no extra cost.
In less than 3 years, the Project Smile fund-raiser has raised $100,000 from patients at 23 locations, including Johns Creek, Ga.
