Young Innovations has introduced XP², a new line of sharpen-free scalers from American Eagle Instruments featuring updates to sharpness, ergonomics, and durability.

Young Innovations launched XP², a new line of sharpen-free scalers from American Eagle Instruments. The release updates the company’s XP Technology with changes aimed at improving clinical efficiency and operator comfort.

XP² is described as offering up to 59% greater sharpness out of the box than its predecessor. The design includes slimmer blades for improved access to periodontal pockets and interproximal areas, and enhanced tactile sensitivity for early detection and removal of deposits.

According to the company, the scalers feature lightweight EagleLite resin handles, which are half the weight of traditional stainless steel and intended to reduce hand and wrist fatigue. The blade edge is created through a patented titanium nitride fusing process that permanently alters the metal structure to maintain sharpness and eliminate the need for manual sharpening.

“Our continued investment into our XP Technology is a reflection of our staunch commitment to provide best-in-class products that cater and adapt to clinicians’ evolving needs while remaining at the forefront of clinical practice. The result is the XP²–an instrument created to offer practitioners consistent sharpness, extended longevity, unmatched durability, and elevated daily comfort,” said Alexander Gross, category director, instruments at Young Innovations.

XP² is available through Benco, Henry Schein, Patterson, and Salvin.
