Hu-Friedy, Chicago, in partnership with Electro Medical Systems, Nyon, Switzerland, has released Air-Flow® Plus Powder, an air polishing powder, designed for use with the Air-Flow Therapy system. Air-Flow Plus Powder can be used to remove biofilm from delicate surfaces while also helping to eliminate light to moderate stains.
According to Hu-Friedy, Air-Flow Therapy uses a combination of air and water pressure to deliver controlled steam that removes stains and biofilm without damaging tissue, enamel, or implants.
Air-Flow Plus Powder is made from erythritol, a harder material that provides more efficient stain removal. The small 14-micron particle size also makes it suitable for various surfaces, including enamel, dentine, soft tissue, restorations, orthodontic appliances, and implant surfaces.
According to a press release from Hu-Friedy, Air-Flow Plus Powder has been in use in Europe for several years.
