Sunstar Americas and Dentistry.One have partnered to launch GUM Virtual Care, a platform offering AI-driven oral health scans and 24/7 access to virtual dental services across the U.S.
Sunstar Americas, the company behind the GUM oral care brand, has partnered with Dentistry.One, a virtual-first dental care provider launched by MouthWatch Inc, to introduce GUM Virtual Care. The new platform combines Dentistry.One’s AI screening tool, SmileScan, with access to licensed dental professionals through live or asynchronous consultations.
How SmileScan works
Patients and consumers can access SmileScan by scanning a QR code available during dental appointments or included with select GUM product packaging. Using a smartphone, users take photos of their teeth, which the AI tool analyzes to flag potential issues such as plaque, inflammation, or crowding. A report is generated in under a minute, offering personalized recommendations and the option to connect with a dentist.
Virtual services complement in-person care
According to a press release from the companies, the service is designed to support—not replace—routine preventive dental care. Users of GUM Virtual Care will have access to Dentistry.One’s broader suite of services, including live video consults, asynchronous reviews, coaching, and coordination with local dentists.
