The American Dental Association (ADA) is holding a webinar to help dental professionals and team members discuss the COVID-19 vaccine with patients. The webinar is designed to help attendees understand the key role the profession can play in increasing vaccine confidence.
Let’s Talk Shots! – Effective Patient Conversations & the COVID-19 Vaccine will stream on March 3, 12:00 pm CT. The webinar will provide attendees with talking points on the value, safety, and necessity of receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.

The webinar aims to strengthen the dental team’s confidence in the dental team’s role and ability to discuss and promote the COVID-19 vaccine with their patients and deliver proven tools for talking through vaccine fact or fiction with patients in the dental office. In addition, attendees will learn motivational interviewing techniques to listen to patients’ concerns and address them in a patient-centered manner resulting in shared decision-making. The webinar will incorporate cultural and racial sensitivity and humility into discussions of vaccine hesitancy.
Speakers include Hugh Silk, MD, a professor at the University of Massachusetts Medical School’s department of family medicine and community health and cofounder of “Smiles for Life,” the award-winning national curriculum on oral health for health providers; Brittany Seymour, DDS, associate professor and global health discipline director at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine; and Winifred J. Booker, DDS, pediatric dentist and founder of The Children’s Oral Health Institute who serves on the 2020 Oral Health Committees for the Surgeon General’s Commission on Oral Health in America.
