Henry Schein Dental Academy is offering a CE webinar on HIPAA compliance for dentistry. The webinar will take place on September 14, 2021, at 6:00 pm ET.
“HIPAA Compliance Made Easy for Dentistry,” led by Karson L Carpenter, DDS, is for all members of the dental team and designed to educate them on the requirements for HIPAA compliance. The webinar will review components of the Privacy Standard as well as review responsibilities under the Security Standard. The webinar will also define Protected Health Information (PHI) and how to safeguard it.
Carpenter will also provide information on the required hardware/software components for HIPAA compliance.
Attendees will also receive instruction on how to understand the required forms and documentation and how to conduct a risk assessment. In addition, the webinar will help attendees understand security risks and how to mitigate them, and define a security breach and explain when/how it must be reported. Attendees will learn the steps to take in event of a HIPAA inspection and their options if they receive a HIPAA citation and fine.
The webinar will also cover the use of consent forms, authorization forms, and business associate agreements.
Carpenter is a practicing dentist and serves as president and CEO of Compliance Training Partners. A graduate of the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, he has over 25 years experience designing educational programs to bring dental and medical facilities into compliance with governmental regulations including OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control.
Attendees can earn two CE credits.
