For the 11th year in a row 3Shape’s Trios intraoral scanner received the 2023 Cellerant Best of Class Technology Award.

3Shape Trios 5 Wireless has received this year’s Cellerant Best of Class Technology Award for intraoral scanners.

The achievement marks the 11th year in a row that the Trios line of intraoral scanners has received the award. The distinction now makes 3Shape the company with the most Cellerant awards in dentistry history. The 3Shape Trios also won the Cellerant Best of Class Hygiene Award for 2023.

“The Cellerant panel comprises leaders in the field of dentistry, professionals who utilize these solutions daily and recognize their unparalleled value and performance,” says Jakob Just-Bomholt, 3Shape chief executive officer. “The panel’s expertise and experience are what make this honor so special for 3Shape. Having now won more awards than any other company in Cellerant prize history is a testament to our team’s reputation for hard work, innovation, and the exceptional quality of our products.”

The Trios 5 Wireless offers the ScanAssist intelligent alignment technology, haptic feedback, an illuminating LED ring, and long-lasting battery life.

The intraoral scanner is FDA cleared and features a closed scanner tip safeguarded by scratch-free sapphire glass. Scanner tips are autoclavable for up to 100 cycles and the device never needs calibration.

“During our annual panel meetings to deliberate on nominees, it’s customary for us to eliminate half of the previous year’s winners within the initial ten minutes,” said Lou Shuman, DMD, CAGS, founder of Best of Class and CEO of Cellerant. “It makes the remarkable feat of 3Shape Trios securing its eleventh consecutive win truly astounding. This accomplishment solidifies 3Shape’s position as the most recognized brand in the field of digital dentistry by our panel of experts. We continue to be impressed by 3Shape’s consistent commitment to innovation and the user-friendly nature of their solutions.”

Designed with hygiene in mind, Trios 5 includes ultra-thin, form-fitting, single-use sleeves to encase the scanner body. The wand is sealed up to its battery inlet and is free of any cracks or crevices.

Trios 5 Wireless is 3Shape’s smallest and lightest scanner to date, weighing only 300 grams with a battery (10.6 oz.) and measuring 26.6 cm (10.5 inches) in length.

The Cellerant award is chosen by a panel of technology leaders in the field of dentistry: Paul Feuerstein, DMD, editor in chief for Dentistry Today, John Flucke, DDS, technology editor for Dental Products Report, Marty Jablow, DMD, known as America’s technology coach, Pamela Maragliano-Muniz, DMD, editor-in-chief for Dental Economics, Chris Salierno, DDS, chief dental officer for Tend, and Shuman.
