Envista completed its acquisition of Carestream Dental’s intraoral scanner business, reported to be for $600 million.

Envista Holdings Corporation announced the completion of its acquisition of Carestream Dental’s intraoral scanner business.

The acquired business will be rebranded as DEXIS and operate as part of the Envista equipment and consumables segment.

The business acquired does not include Carestream Dental’s imaging equipment or practice management businesses.

The acquisition was previously reported to cost $600 million, and the company says more details of the deal will be released in a current report on a Form 8-K that Envista will file with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Carestream stated that it sold its intraoral scanner business to focus more on the cloud software and AI side of its business.

“We are very excited to add a suite of world-class intra-oral scanners and software to our portfolio. Intraoral scans are often the first step in the digital workflow and critical to many high-value dental procedures, including implants, prosthetics, and aligners,” said Amir Aghdaei, chief executive officer of Envista Holdings. “This acquisition further enables our purpose of partnering with dental professionals to improve patients’ lives by digitizing, personalizing, and democratizing dental care.”
