Planmeca, Helsinki, Finland, has introduced a new dental operating light. The Planmeca Solea™ features adjustable brightness and color temperature. According to the company, the Solea’s advanced LED technology and mirror optics guarantee a large illumination field, which provides “excellent visibility to every corner of the treatment area,” thus minimizing the need to adjust the light head during treatment.
The uniform light intensity helps ensure minimized shadows regardless of the distance from the treatment area. The sharp edges of the light beam make the light more eye-friendly for the patient. The Planmeca Solea features a special composite mode which reportedly enables safe use of composite materials and prevents pre-polymerization effect.
The Solea is designed for users of all sizes, sitting or standing. The user interface is located on the handles, which are detachable and autoclavable. They can also be washed in a washer-disinfector. The Planmeca Solea also features a dust-proof light capsule and a seamless one-piece back cover to provide better infection control.
The light can be connected to the Planmeca Romexis® software to get information on the use of the light.
