The company is introducing 12 mm and 14 mm pins alongside a new scanbody to support digital workflows in orthodontic treatments.
Dentaurum has announced the expansion of the tomas portfolio for 2026, introducing new pin lengths for tomas-pin SD and EP as well as a digital workflow solution with the new tomas scanbody.
New Pin Lengths for Increased Stability
The updated product assortment expands the tomas-pin SD and EP lines to include pin lengths of 12 and 14 mm. According to the company, the longer pins offer greater primary stability owing to their greater insertion depth and the option of bicortical anchorage. This design is intended to provide additional stability during treatment and create optimal conditions for attached appliances and coupling elements to function reliably.
Addition of Digital Workflow Solutions
Dentaurum is also adding a new scanbody for tomas to support digital treatment planning. The tool enables the intraoral digital capture of the SD and EP tomas-pins.
The scanbody is available as a free STL download on the Dentaurum home page and can be 3D-printed on a case-by-case basis in either a dental office or laboratory. Captured scan data can then be imported directly into planning software to serve as the foundation for the digital construction and fabrication of planned orthodontic appliances.
Skeletally Anchored RPE and the Pin-Last Approach
The company also offers its tomas-RPE eyelet, which practitioners can use to create skeletally anchored rapid palatal expansion (RPE) appliances according to the Pin-Last approach. According to the company, this method makes it possible to place both the RPE appliance and the mini implants in a single appointment. The tomas-RPE eyelet serves as a coupling element, linking the tomas-pin and hyrax expansion screws.
Hands-On Training and Workshops
To support clinicians in implementing these solutions, Dentaurum offers various hands-on workshops and training courses focused on the tomas system. These international training programs are designed to provide in-depth, practical knowledge on skeletal anchorage and system application.
Company and Product Anniversaries
The portfolio updates coincide with two milestones for the company in 2026: its 140th anniversary and 20 years of tomas.
Introduced two decades ago, the temporary orthodontic micro anchorage system is utilized as a skeletal anchorage system for orthodontic treatment. Founded in 1886, Dentaurum remains a family-owned company operating out of its headquarters in Ispringen, Germany.
