The November 10 webinar will offer guidance and resources to program coordinators and volunteers considering a 2021 event to provide underserved children access to free oral health care.

The American Dental Association (ADA) is hosting a free webinar offering guidance and resources for practices who would like to plan a Give Kids A Smile (GKAS) event in 2021. The webinar specifically looks at how to host such an event during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The webinar is scheduled for November 10 at 5:00 pm CT. It will be available on-demand at ada.org/gkas after the event.

Launched in 2003, ADA Give Kids A Smile provides underserved children with free oral health care. Approximately 6,500 dentists and 30,000 dental team members volunteer at local GKAS events every year, providing free oral health education, screenings, and preventative and restorative treatment. The program has provided care to over 300,000 children.

According to the ADA, the program remains committed to providing resources to program coordinators and volunteers who are considering or planning a GKAS event in 2021.

The guest speakers will be Jeffrey B. Darlin, DDS, GKAS St Louis cofounder, and Kathryn Kosten, DMD, ADA GKAS National Advisory Committee member and director of community dentistry at Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine.

The webinar will discuss the recently released “ADA Guidance on Conducting a GKAS Event During COVID-19” document.

The deadline for registering a 2021 GKAS event and being eligible to receive donated product kits is November 13, 2020.
