Dr Barbara Shearer, director of scientific affairs at Colgate-Palmolive, will lead the committee which provides strategic advice to the ADA on oral health initiatives to reach the underserved.  

The American Dental Association (ADA) Give Kids a Smile (GKAS) program announced the appointment of Dr Barbara Shearer, director of scientific affairs at Colgate-Palmolive Co, as the new chair of the GKAS National Advisory Committee. 

In the role, Shearer will lead the committee, which provides strategic advice to the ADA Department of Corporate Social Responsibility and Philanthropy as it pertains to the Give Kids a Smile program. 

“In the 10 years I have been a part of the GKAS National Advisory Committee, I have seen the programs grow in strength every year,” said Shearer told ADA News. “I am continually amazed by the passion and commitment of all of the volunteers who give so much to their communities. I am honored to have the opportunity to serve as chair of the GKAS National Advisory Committee at this time when oral health initiatives such as GKAS are even more important in reaching the underserved.”
