The national dental staffing company onDiem announced that it now offers paid time off (PTO)—in addition to a comprehensive benefits package—to dental professionals who work through their staffing platform. onDiem provides temporary, permanent, and flexible staffing options—including doctors, hygienists, dental assistants, and front office personnel—for dental and specialty offices.

According to the company, there is no cap on PTO, onDiem professionals being accruing immediately, and the PTO can be used at the professional’s discretion.

“Benefits like access to affordable healthcare and paid time off are a basic necessity for professionals and their families,” said Joe Fogg, onDiem’s CEO and founder. “COVID-19 has only made that more apparent over the past year, as exhausted professionals are managing increased stress and risks in the workplace, and simultaneously balancing new personal challenges brought on by school closures, sick family members, or their own health concerns. They deserve the chance to rest and recharge, or to take care of their families, without having to worry about taking a financial hit.”

In 2019, the company made a shift to a W2 employee model. As employees, not contractors, onDiem offers its professionals healthcare benefits, employer-paid taxes, and insurance coverage, along with the ability to set their own work schedule and hourly rates.

In addition to launching PTO, onDiem is also releasing a new feature that allows dental practices to directly connect with and request a specific dental professional.

“As a 16-year veteran in the dental industry, I’ve had the privilege of working in countless dental practices across the country,” explains Melissa Turner, dental hygienist, KOL, and advisor to onDiem. “My experience has been that employee wellness is lacking in dentistry—with things like paid time off and health and wellness benefits generally difficult to find for members of the dental team. onDiem immediately recognized this, innovated, and is now at the forefront of making dentistry a better experience for not just the dental patient but for the dental professional as well.”
