Dentsply Sirona and High Point University have formalized a long-term partnership to integrate digital technologies into the university’s dental curriculum and clinical training.

Dentsply Sirona and High Point University (HPU) have announced a collaboration that will bring a broad range of dental technologies to HPU’s Workman School of Dental Medicine as part of a new model of dental education. The agreement, set to begin in summer 2025, includes a 15-year naming rights arrangement for several educational and clinical facilities.

Under the terms of the agreement, Dentsply Sirona will provide digital and clinical equipment to HPU, including treatment centers, scanners, 3D printing systems, radiographic devices, and consumables. These will be installed in the school’s simulation lab, digital lab, and across community-based clinical hubs in High Point, Greensboro, and Winston-Salem, NC.

Curriculum Includes Early Clinical Exposure

The collaboration supports HPU’s approach to dental education, which combines classroom learning with clinical experience starting in the first year. The school’s program includes 2 years of foundational education alongside limited patient care in campus and community-based clinics, followed by 2 years of full-time clinical rotations in those same off-campus sites.

The facilities receiving equipment will include a simulation clinic with 66 dental stations. These and the community-based hubs will feature signage denoting them as “Powered by Dentsply Sirona.”

Statements from Leadership

Bruce Peatey, group vice president, Americas, at Dentsply Sirona, described the agreement as part of a shift toward greater integration of technology in dental education and practice. “This partnership with High Point University represents an exciting and rare opportunity to transform dental education. By equipping HPU’s simulation clinic, digital lab, and community hubs with our cutting-edge workflow solutions, we are empowering students to master the tools, techniques, and connected ecosystems that define modern dentistry.”

HPU representatives highlighted the relevance of the partnership to the school’s instructional goals. “By integrating Dentsply Sirona’s advanced technologies into every stage of their education, we’re giving our students the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive in a setting that mirrors the future of dentistry,” said Dr Kevin Cain, senior associate dean at the Workman School of Dental Medicine.

Ali Shazib, DMD, noted that the collaboration is intended to support research, clinical care, and quality improvement, adding: “Our patients, faculty, and learners all win from this partnership.”

Focus on Regional Clinical Access

HPU’s model places students in clinical settings located within the region throughout their training. According to the university, this structure is intended to provide students with consistent clinical exposure while increasing access to dental services in underserved communities.

The university and Dentsply Sirona describe the partnership as a long-term effort to align dental education with evolving clinical practice requirements and to support community-based care.
