The Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) has found that the journal Orthodontics & Craniofacial Research has the highest impact factor of any orthodontic journal worldwide. The journal ranked higher than the American Journal of Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics and the European Journal of Orthodontics.
According to ISI, a journal’s impact factor is the average number of citations received per paper published in that journal. It is used as a measure of the relative importance of a journal within its field; journals with higher impact factors can be deemed to be more important than those with lower ones.
Orthodontics & Craniofacial Research was founded by Orhan C. Tuncay, DMD, and is now edited by Ann-Marie Kuijpers-Jagtman, DDS, PhD.
