A cat with a broken jaw is getting realignment from a determined orthodontist. The cat, Baxter, was found battered on the side of the road in Socorro, NM.

Baxter eventually healed, but he couldn’t chew properly because his teeth were misaligned, so his owners took him to an orthodontist who gave him braces. “Looking at the situation, what we would do isn’t that much different for humans,” said orthodontist Ginger Bratzel, DDS. “The biggest difficulty we were going to have was, would Baxter tolerate this?”

If all goes well, Baxter’s braces should come off this summer.
