According to an article from Amarillo.com, JP Morgan Chase Bank has filed a federal civil lawsuit seeking nearly $1.9 million from Michael Goodwin, DDS, MS, an Amarillo orthodontist who government attorneys have linked to Medicaid fraud.

According to the complaint, attorneys for the bank said Goodwin has not paid the principal or interest on at least four loans that he took out for different businesses, including two loans for Goodwin Orthodontics. Goodwin has not been charged with a crime.

In a separate federal civil suit last month, government attorneys sought a court order to keep $244,235.67 authorities seized from Chase Bank commercial and personal bank accounts maintained by Goodwin or business entities he controlled. Goodwin, who scheduled up to 400 Medicaid patients a day, frequently billed the government for work he did not do. He made a total of $1.67 million in fraudulent claims from April 2008 to April 2011, the federal complaint said.
