Birdsall Holly Broadbent, Jr, DDS, co-developer of the Bolton Standards, which predict the growth of children’s teeth and faces, died July 9.
 
According to an article in The Plain Dealer, a Cleveland-area newspaper, Braodbent was a staple in the Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine, Cleveland. There, Broadbent received his bachelor’s and dental degrees (from what was at the time Western Reserve University), and competed on the University’s wrestling team. He then dedicated 50 years to being a part of the faculty at the University, where he and his father created the[removed] Bolton-Brush Growth Study Center[/removed] at the dental school. Last year, Broadbent stepped down as director of the Center, but continued to work at the school.
 
According to The Plain Dealer, during his career Broadbent served as president of Cleveland’s Health Museum, the Cleveland Dental Society, and the Great Lakes Society of Orthodontists. He also served as vice president of the American Association of Orthodontists.
