Practicon, Greenville, NC, has introduced the Acu-Tip® Electro-Surgical Cauterizing Instrument. The cauterizer has disposable tips and is cordless. According to the company, it can provide hemostasis, remove soft tissue and lesions, and trim gingival tissue before impressions.
Acu-Tip’s DC battery power eliminates the need to ground patients to avoid the risk of any electric shock to patients or staff. The self-contained unit reaches 2,200°F (1,200°C), and performs for 35 to 40 continuous minutes on two AA batteries, which are included. The cauterizer comes with four disposable tips.
