Forestadent USA, St Louis, introduces the new Snap Lock Expander. Thanks to a built-in safety mechanism that ensures that the flat spring puts pressure on the eccentric spindle, the expander does not unwind automatically. The spindle snaps into an ideal position for reactivation and locks it against unwinding. Reactivation can only be done using a specific key.
According to the company, both patient and clinician will be able to feel how the flat spring snaps in when activating and will know the exact position of the spindle. In case of overactivation, the spindle can be turned back without any problems. The Snap Lock Expander is available in three sizes, with a maximum expansion of 8, 10, or 12 mm.
