The new platform evaluates a practice’s digital visibility on artificial intelligence search tools to help attract more patients.
KaleidoscopeAI will launch KAL, an artificial intelligence growth system designed for orthodontic practices, at the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) Annual Session in Orlando.
Adapting to New Search Behaviors
The KAL platform addresses changes in how patients search for orthodontic care. According to the company, consumers are increasingly using artificial intelligence platforms such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews to find providers. These systems typically recommend a shortlist of three to five practices, meaning practices outside those recommendations may not be considered by prospective patients.
According to Search Engine Journal data cited by the company, 88% of healthcare-related Google searches produced an AI-generated overview before displaying traditional results by December 2025.
Evaluating Digital Presence
KAL assesses an orthodontic practice’s digital footprint across 32 checkpoints, generating a proprietary AI Visibility Score ranging from 0 to 100. The evaluation focuses on five core areas: schema markup completeness, directory consistency, content architecture, third-party authority signals, and live AI search performance.
Rather than self-serve software, KAL operates as a managed service that includes Answer Engine Optimization (AEO), Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), citation management, and monthly search intelligence reporting.
Pre-launch audits conducted by the company indicated that the average orthodontic practice scores below 40, suggesting many practices currently remain invisible to the artificial intelligence tools patients use to choose an orthodontist.
“Almost 20 years ago, I introduced SEO to the orthodontic industry when most practices did not believe they needed a website. Today, we are at an identical inflection point. AI is now making the recommendation, not Google,” says Mary Kay Miller, founder and CEO of KaleidoscopeAI, in a release.
The Limits of Traditional SEO
The company notes a significant disconnect between traditional search engine optimization and AI visibility, reporting that only 17% of sources cited in AI-generated answers also rank in the top 10 organic search results.
“What surprised us most during our pre-launch audits was how many practices with excellent Google rankings had almost no AI visibility,” says Jeff Slater, vice president of operations at KaleidoscopeAI. “These are practices spending thousands of dollars a month on digital marketing, and AI cannot find them. That means 83% of AI recommendations are going to practices that traditional SEO alone would never surface.”
Availability and Audits
The KAL system is available immediately. KaleidoscopeAI is offering complimentary AI Visibility Audits to orthodontists attending the AAO Annual Session at booth 1115. Practices not in attendance can request an audit directly through the company’s website.
