Lantis Laser, Denville, NJ, has gained the exclusive right to market Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) biomedical imaging technology to dentists, the company has announced.

According to the company, the technology now offered by Lantis has the capacity to provide detailed images of oral microstructures in order to detect early stages of tooth decay, periodontal disease, and other oral diseases.

Current OCT systems have high resolutions, tissue-characterization capacities, real-time captures and displays, and a fiber-based design.

The company also says that the system uses a frequency of light that is safer for biological tissue than radiation is.
