VIDAR Systems Corp, Herndon, Va, has introduced the Dental Film Digitizer, which is specifically designed for scanning analog dental film. The Dental Film Digitizer is designed for dental offices that are already using digital intraoral imaging but have not yet made the conversion with their panoramic and cephalometric imaging equipment. According to the company, the product can digitize x-ray films for integration into patients’ digital records to achieve a completely digital workflow at a fraction of the price of digital panoramic solutions.

The digitizer can produce clinically relevant images to 3.6 Optical Density. It connects to a PC with a USB cable, and uses a TWAIN interface to connect to dental imaging software. Dental films of all standard sizes can be digitized, and panoramic films can be digitized in just 18 seconds.
