The Organization for Safety and Asepsis Procedures (OSAP), Annapolis, Md, has announced the finalists for the I See IC competition for still photos and video clips promoting infection control and safety. The winners will be announced at a red carpet event during the OSAP Symposium, which will take place June 12–15 at the Westin Mission Hills Resort and Spa in Palm Springs, Calif. IC-car ("ICE-kar") Awards will be given for the winning entries in each category. In addition, the best overall still photo and best overall video clip will receive $1,000 each. For Best Drama, the finalists are "Infection Walks Loose" by Joab Montes, "Shortcut to Disaster" by Adalberto Abner Perez Flores, "The Wrong Use of Needles in the Dental Office" by Beatriz JimÉnez MartÍn, "Tragic Consequences—Be Aware—Infectious Scare" by Rosely Paulina Ávila Rivas, and "Would you Like to be My Patient” by Viridiana Castro Ortiz.
For Best Comedy, the finalists are "A Touching Experience" by Risa Simon, "All in a Day’s Work" by Andres Zuccolotto, "Always Prepared" by Ismael Garcia DueÑez, "Beauty Pageant for Gloves" by Leslie Canham, "Flash Floor" by Risa Simon, and "Biohazard Line" by Risa Simon.
OSAP received submissions from students, consultants, and dental professionals across the United States and from a number of other countries. "The response was overwhelming," said Therese Long, executive director of OSAP. "People were incredibly creative and went to an amazing amount of work. The contest exceeded our objectives in engaging younger dental professionals and really focusing attention on safe dental practices."
