The new aligner system allows orthodontists to choose from two aligner materials in one treatment design, creating a customized treatment option for patients.
3M Oral Care announced the release of Clarity Aligners Flex + Force. According to the company, this new aligner system allows orthodontists to choose from two aligner materials in one treatment design, giving patients a customized treatment option.
According to 3M Oral Care, the new Clarity Aligners Flex material complements the existing Clarity Aligners Force material by “incorporating desirable aligner characteristics that enable orthodontists to tailor treatment.”
3M Clarity Aligners Flex is made of a proprietary five-layer blend of materials which, the company says, provide excellent force persistence, stain and scratch resistance, easy insertion and removal, and good engagement with attachments. In addition, the Clarity Aligners Flex material’s outer layers resist staining and scratching, while inner layers provide flexibility and resilience. The company says the overall structure provides durability while reducing thickness.
According to 3M Oral Care, Clarity Aligners Flex + Force works with the 3M Oral Care Portal, giving orthodontists one integrated workflow for two-material Tx Designs. The 3M Oral Care Portal, a cloud-based software solution for Advanced Tx Design, reportedly provides access to one platform to plan and refine aligner, digital bonding, and combination treatment.
Through the 3M Oral Care Portal, the aligner system provides for treatment from simple to complex cases. 3M Clarity Aligners can be used to address patients with mixed dentition.
