Align Technology Inc,San Jose, Calif, has launched Invisalign G3. The new aligner andsoftware enhancements are designed to make the system more effective intreating Class II and Class III orthodontic patients.
Invisalign G3 features Precision Cuts, which are doctor-prescribedpre-cuts in the aligners that accommodate the use of elastics. Using anew drag-and-drop interface in ClinCheck 3.0 software, orthodontists cannow specify the placement and the type of Precision Cuts on thealigners.
New SmartForce™ features in Invisalign G3 include an Optimized RotationAttachment for bicuspids (previously available only for cuspids), a newPower Ridge™ feature for lower anteriors (previously available only forthe upper arch), and a Lingual Power Ridge feature for upper anteriors. Anew variation of the Optimized Rotation Attachment is also beingintroduced to address clinical situations where placement of theattachment may have previously been difficult, according to the company.
The Invisalign Doctor Site (formerly Virtual Invisalign Practice or"VIP"), a secure Web site where doctors access Invisalign patientrecords, review and approve ClinCheck treatment options, view patientaccount statues, and order treatment supplies, has also been redesigned.The site now consolidates all of a patient’s Invisalign records andtreatment tasks together in one location. The Invisalign Doctor Sitealso introduces a new online prescription form that is integrated withthe orthodontist’s clinical preferences.
Invisalign G3 also includes new clinical preferences and the addition of Compliance Indicators to Invisalign Assist.
Invisalign G3 features will be available to Invisalign-trained doctorsin North America in October 2010 and internationally in 2011.
