Smartee Denti-Technology and DentalMonitoring have launched a new platform integration that allows orthodontists to generate SmartSTL files for clear aligner refinements using remote scans, removing the need for additional in-office appointments.
Remote Scans Replace Traditional Workflow
Previously, patients undergoing clear aligner treatment needed to visit their orthodontist’s office for an intraoral scan to begin the refinement process. The resulting scan was then submitted to Smartee to develop a revised treatment plan. This process, while accurate, often added extra chair time and visits.
Connected Systems Streamline Process
With the new integration, scans captured by patients using DentalMonitoring’s app are automatically processed and made available within the Smartee platform. Orthodontists can then combine three data points—the initial intraoral scan, the current stage file from the existing Smartee treatment plan, and the new remote scan—to generate an updated SmartSTL file.
The integration enables doctors to plan refinements without needing a new intraoral scan or in-person visit.
Available Globally to Smartee Doctors
The feature is now accessible for Smartee providers across the EU, Asia-Pacific, North, Central, and South America. Doctors can locate the tool under ‘Digital Tools’ > ‘DM SmartSTL’ within the Smartee case management system.
