Jonesboro, Arkansas-based orthodontist Benjamin Burris, DDS, MDS, of Braces by Burris, was recently named the Business Executive of the Year by the Northeast Arkansas Business of the Year awards. The award is based on annual revenue growth rate, accomplishments, business challenges overcome, management philosophy, and community activities.

Since purchasing his first practice in Jonesboro in 2004, Burris has expanded his practice to include 12 clinics across the state, as well as a pediatric dentistry clinic in Hot Springs, Ark. Recently, he also took a position as a clinical professor of dental medicine at the University of Southern Nevada where he teaches business and the practice of orthodontics. Burris also holds leadership positions with a number of orthodontic groups, including the Southwest Society of Orthodontists and the Arkansas Society of Orthodontists.

Burris is also responsible with starting The Progressive Orthodontist, a quarterly, national magazine to help orthodontists navigate the competitive orthodontic market. The magazine is currently distributed to 9,000 orthodontists in the United States.

All of Burris’ clinics take part in the Smile for a Lifetime Foundation, a group that Burris started to provide orthodontic scholarships to children in need of orthodontic treatment. Burris’ clinics donate braces at an average of $6,000 per set to four children per month.
