The PCSO Annual Session paid its fourth visit to Monterey, Calif, on October 13-16. The festivities began with the Welcoming Party at the Monterey Aquarium, which was featuring the exhibit "Wild About Otters."

David Turpin, DDS, MSD, delivered a two-part President’s Lecture. Part 1 was called "A Century of Innovation," and Part 2 was "The Evidence-Based Practice." Other speakers included Stephen Tracey, DDS, MS, who addressed orthodontists and staff about how to create a fun atmosphere in the office; and Jason Cope, DDS, PhD, who spoke to orthodontists in a 3-hour lecture on appropriate uses of TADs. During a meeting after his lecture, Cope agreed to become a member of the Orthodontic Products Editorial Advisory Board.

Three awards were given at the Session: Gerald D. Nelson, DDS, was the Annual Session Honoree; Thomas F. Mulligan, DDS, MSD, received the Award of Merit; and Arthur A. Dugoni, DDS, MSD, was the second recipient of the PCSO Lifetime Achievement Award.

According to the PCSO, attendees included 569 orthodontists, 810 orthodontic assistants, and 161 spouses and other guests.
