DENTSPLY GAC, Birmingham, Ala, has announced the worldwide release of VistaDent™ 3D, a diagnosis and planning software package for interpreting 3D DICOM data. According to the company, VistaDent 3D offers diagnostic features that allow dental professionals to analyze tooth roots, TMJ, impacted teeth, mixed dentition, mandibular nerve, tooth root positions, cortical bone thickness and bone quality, and the sinus cavity. The software also contains a planning environment where users can virtually plan the placement of TADs, oral and maxillofacial surgeries, the occlusion of dentition, and soft-tissue profiles after treatment.
Traditional and 3D versions of industry standard cephalometric analyses such as Steiner, Ricketts, Tweed, and Downs are available in VistaDent3D. Users can also create their own customized analyses using points, lines, planes, angles, distances, and proportions.
