Infection prevention expert Jackie Dorst will present the CE credit webinar, which will provide updates to the orthodontic team on the latest protocols, products, and equipment for clinical and patient safety.

The American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) is offering a CE credit webinar presented by infection prevention expert Jackie Dorst, BS, RDH. The 1-hour webinar, titled “2021 Infection Control & OSHA Safety Update,” will take place September 23, 2021 at 12:00pm CT.

Dorst, who appears in the Orthodontic Products video series In the Sterilization Room with Jackie, will provide updates to the orthodontic team on the latest infection control protocols, products, and equipment for patient and clinical safety.

As the orthodontic team knows, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the CDC, OSHA, FDA, and EPA have released an abundance of information, covering everything from the different required PPE to protect patients and staff from airborne disease transmission of the SARs-CoV-2 virus to controls for orthodontic AGP procedures and OSHA required respiratory protection team training. The webinar aims to help orthodontic practices understand what are the current facts and latest guidance for safe patient care.

Dorst will not only provide trustworthy information resources, but also recordkeeping forms to update the orthodontic practice and ensure compliance.

As OSHA requires annual safety training for all employees, this webinar will also include training on the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard, Hazard Communication Standard, General Safety & Emergency Preparedness Plan, and Respiratory Protection Plan.

Attendees can expect to walk away from the webinar recognizing the elements of the Respiratory Protection Plan, the seven elements of Standard Precautions, and identify correct PPE for AGP and NAGP procedures. In addition, Dorst will provide a demonstration of a N95 seal test and instruct attendees on identifying hazards for each GHS Pictogram.

Each participant who completes the webinar will earn 1.0 CE credit
