The American Board of Orthodontics (ABO) announced that two orthodontic specialists became board-certified and 67 specialists renewed their ABO certification during the initial half of 2026.
Voluntary Credentialing
ABO board certification is a voluntary credential that represents an orthodontist’s commitment to the standards of specialty practice and lifelong learning. The certification is recognized by patients, practitioners, and professional partner organizations as a mark of quality orthodontic care.

Organizational Reach
The ABO currently represents 68% of the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) membership.
Founded in 1929, the ABO is partnered with the AAO and is recognized by the National Commission on Recognition of Dental Specialties and Certifying Boards as the national certifying board for orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics.
