In addition to Sabbott, Dr Patrick Foley was installed as president-elect, while Dr Timothy S. Trulove, was named secretary/treasurer and Dr Valmy Pangrazio-Kulbersh immediate past president. 

The American Board of Orthodontics (ABO) installed David G. Sabott, DDS, MS, of Erie, Colo, as president for the year beginning May 1, 2021. Patrick F. Foley, DDS, MSD, of Mundelein, Ill, was installed as president-elect, while Timothy S. Trulove, DMD, MS, of Montgomery, Ala, was named secretary/treasurer, and Valmy Pangrazio-Kulbersh, DDS, MS, of Bloomfield Hills, Mich, becomes immediate past president. 

Each ABO director represents one of the eight constituent organizations of the AAO and serves an 8-year term, which culminates in the position of president. The ABO directors are responsible for establishing policy with regard to the board certification of specialists in orthodontics. 

During his tenure as an ABO director, Sabott has represented the Rocky Mountain Society of Orthodontists (RMSO). Foley has represented the Midwestern Society of Orthodontists (MSO). 

As ABO president, Sabbot also serves as chair of the ABO Finance Committee, and as the ABO liaison to numerous professional organizations, including the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO), the College of Diplomates of the ABO, the Graduate Orthodontic Resident Program (GORP), the World Federation of Orthodontists (WFO), and the Society of Educators (SOE). Foley is a member of the Executive, Written, and Certification Committees. 

Sabott is an associate with Trinity Orthodontics in Arvada, Colo. First certified by the ABO in 1988, he serves as an examiner for the ABO Clinical Examination. He is a member of College of Diplomates of the American Board of Orthodontics (CDABO).

In addition to serving as a past-president of RMSO, Sabbot is also a past president of the Angle Southwest Component of the Edward H. Angle Society, the Colorado State Orthodontic Society, and the Boulder County Dental Society. He is a member of the AAO and the ADA, and served on the AAO Council on Insurance and the AAO Council on Library Resources. Sabott is also a regent of the AAO Foundation. In 2009, he received the Distinguished Service Award from the RMSO. He is a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon national honorary dental society. 

Sabott earned his dental degree from Creighton University in 1973 and his master’s degree in biological materials from Northwestern University in 1975. He is dual trained in both pediatric dentistry and orthodontics. He earned his orthodontic certificate from Northwestern University in 1977.

Foley is associate professor and assistant director of the Center for Advanced Dental Education at Saint Louis University. He previously had a private practice in orthodontics in Lake Zurich, Ill, for 30 years.

First certified by the ABO in 1995, he is a member of the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Orthodontics (CDABO). He is a past president of the Illinois Society of Orthodontists and is member of the World Federation of Orthodontists.

Foley obtained his dental degree from the University of Illinois and his master’s degree in orthodontics from Saint Louis University.
