Carestream Dental is celebrating 5 years since breaking off from its parent company Carestream Health in 2017.

Carestream Dental is celebrating 5 years since becoming a freestanding technology company in 2017 when it officially separated from Carestream Health to focus solely on digital solutions.

After separating from its parent company, Carestream Dental It was acquired by Clayton, Dubilier & Rice and CareCapital Advisors Limited.

The past 5 years has seen a faster cycle time, larger investment commitment and numerous awards and recognition across the industry and around the world, according to the company, including the Cellerant Best of Class Technology Award and the Edison Award.

“Carestream Dental has always been a leader in digital dentistry but becoming a freestanding technology company gave us even more freedom to innovate,” said Lisa Ashby, chief executive officer, Carestream Dental. “Since 2017, we’ve been developing and investing in data and insights to drive and optimize practice proficiency; deliver business intelligence to the practice; and advance new solutions.”

Five years of independence have brought many accomplishments, many stemming from a long history as an innovation leader in practice management software and imaging technology.

  • Advancing Technology Trends to Dentistry: Artificial intelligence (AI), guided assistance programs—they’re not the future, Carestream Dental is making it happen now. Whether it’s the advanced CBCT, CS 9600, or Swissmeda clinical software, Carestream Dental solutions are delivering automated image acquisition and assisting in assessing oral health images.
  • Driving Better Outcomes for Doctors and Patients: 3-D imaging, virtual implant planning and surgical guides combine to lead to more confident diagnoses, faster turnaround, better surgical outcomes and happier, healthier patients. From the first scan to final placement, Carestream Dental’s technology, along with its newly expanded Swissmeda portfolio, enables efficient implant case throughput.
  • Increasing Practice Profitability: Many dentists are also business owners; the right software helps them manage the entire business and revenue cycle—from getting patients in the door to case acceptance to treatment to payment. Sensei Patient Solutions can attract new patients, get them scheduled, then follow up to ensure they return. Engaging with patients through online interactions, social engagement and by texting traffic alerts create a positive impression and keeps them coming back.
  • Elevating Dentistry to the Cloud: As the world becomes more connected, oral healthcare professionals need anytime, anywhere access to patient and practice data. Through cloud-connected CBCT systems; cloud-based image viewing and collaboration tools; and new multi-million-dollar native cloud applications, Carestream Dental is creating flexibility across dental specialties; meeting region-specific security and data regulations; and serving the needs of practices, from large enterprise customers to solo practitioners.

Looking ahead to the next five years and beyond, Carestream Dental plans to continue to be a catalyst for change in the oral health industry by evolving, inventing, and innovating.

“I’m grateful for the doctors and partners around the world who trust us to provide the solutions they need to deliver better outcomes to their patients and to help build their practices,” said Ashby. “And of course we wouldn’t be here without the deep knowledge and expertise of our more than 1,200 employees around the world.”
