Sirona Dental Systems Inc, Charlotte, NC, recently entered into a digital dentistry agreement with Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine (GSDM) that will make GSDM the first all-digital school of dentistry in the country and enable it to provide its dental students with the opportunity to learn in fully equipped operatories.

Sirona Dental Systems will supply all latest digital equipment to GSDM, which will provide a full digital dentistry workflow, including dental and laboratory techniques and applications. Now, GSDM Patient Treatment Centers feature Sirona’s CEREC®, Schick, GALILEOS, and inLab® product lines.

A digital dentistry task force was created to transform the dental school curriculum to a digital learning environment with a goal of providing students all the necessary tools for formulating comprehensive treatment plans and delivering the highest possible level of oral healthcare using digital dental technologies. The task force evaluated the necessary facilities, equipment, and technical support required to create a seamless all-inclusive system and make the conversion user-friendly and simple.

Jeffrey Slovin, president and CEO of Sirona Dental Systems, remarked, “We are honored to enter into this first-of-its-kind endeavor with Boston University. Students will get to experience the true workings of a current dental practice environment, and we commend the University for leading the way toward educating its students using digital dentistry techniques. We are pleased to collaborate with Boston University in setting the stage for the future of dental education.”
