OrthoSynetics, Metairie, La, a provider of business services to orthodontic and dental practices, has named Michael P. Beland as its corporate controller. Beland will be responsible for the company’s accounting, tax, financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls.

Prior to joining OrthoSynetics, Beland served as director of accounting research and policy at The Shaw Group Inc, a Fortune 500 company based in Baton Rouge, La. At The Shaw Group, Beland oversaw compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley standards. Prior to joining The Shaw Group, Beland worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, Grant Thornton LLP, and Arthur Andersen LLP.
He received a BS/BA in accounting from the University of Southern Mississippi, where he graduated magna cum laude. At the University of Southern Mississippi, he earned an MPA concentration in accounting and a minor in MBA finance. He is a certified public accountant, licensed in Louisiana and Mississippi.
