Geomagic, Research Triangle Park, NC, has hired Robert Kody as general manager of the company’s dental business. Kody was previously general manager of the digital orthodontics business at 3M Unitek Corp. Geomagic’s dental business supports chairside and lab-side dental CAD/CAM solutions.
Kody joined 3M in 1998 as a scientist in the corporate research lab. From 2005 to 2009, he was responsible for managing and growing all areas of 3M Unitek’s digital orthodontics business. Kody holds a PhD in polymer science and engineering from the University of Massachusetts, and an Executive MBA from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business.
“Bob has a rare combination of entrepreneurial spirit and proven management experience in digital dentistry,” said Ping Fu, Geomagic president and CEO, in an announcement about Kody’s new position. “I’m confident he will lead our dental business to the next level of growth and continue to push innovation of digital technology for better office care and improved lab service offerings.”
