On Monday, June 18, at 10 AM, William Prentice, senior vice president of Government and Public Affairs at the ADA, joined Rep Elijah Cummings (D-Md) for a media conference to announce the ADA’s support for Cummings’ “Deamonte’s Law." The bill seeks to improve access to dental care for underserved children by increasing the number of dentists specially trained to treat children and increasing the capacity of community health centers to provide that treatment. The bill is named for Deamonte Driver, a 12-year-old from Prince George’s County, Md, who died in February as the result of an untreated oral abscess.
The event took place at the Park West Medical Center in Baltimore. For more information, visit www.ada.org.
