According to an article from TylerPaper.com, Marvin G. Stephens Jr, DDS, an East Texas orthodontist, has received the Tom Matthews Award, presented by graduates of the Baylor Orthodontic Department during the annual Baylor Orthodontic Alumni Seminar at Lost Pines Resort in Bastrop, Tex.

The alumni present the award annually to recognize a person for exceptional loyalty, devoted friendship, and meaningful advancement of orthodontics to Baylor. Tom Matthews presented the award to Stephens during the June 14 ceremony. The award was created to honor Matthews for an outstanding job as director of the Baylor Orthodontic Clinic.

Stephens has been in private practice in Tyler, Lindale, and Mineola, Tex, for 35 years. He is an adjunct assistant professor at the Baylor Orthodontic Department in Dallas, where he teaches on Fridays. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and has held many offices in a number of orthodontic organizations. He is a fellow of the American College of Dentists, and is a member of the Edward H. Angle Society of Orthodontists and the Texas Orthodontic Study Group.
