Part 6 of the “Breaking Down Barriers to Care” webinar series will explain what’s new, what’s true, and how to provide care for patients living with autism.

Henry Schein Dental Academy will present Part 6 of its webinar, “Breaking Down Barriers to Care: Treating Patients with Disabilities,” on Wednesday, April 21, 6:00 pm ET. One CE credit is available.

Guest speaker Maureen Munnelly Perry, DDS, MPA, MAEd, who is professor of special care dentistry at Arizona State University-Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health, will cover “Autism: What’s New, What’s True and How Do We Provide Care?”

The rising public awareness of people with autism and increasing number of children being diagnosed have brought this developmental disability to the forefront of medicine.

Munnelly Perry will begin by reviewing the description and definition of the term “autistic spectrum disorders” (ASD); then share some evidence-based findings of what current literature explores and the latest scientific research regarding ASD. She’ll also include the epidemiology and etiology of autism, and provide management techniques, and best practices that other doctors may want to consider.
