tops Software, Marietta, Ga, will debut topsOrtho™ version 5.0 at its upcoming topsFest 2012 event, which will be held February 2 to 4, 2012, in New Orleans. The event is for orthodontists and their staff members who use the topsOrtho practice-management system.

In addition to being the first to see the new version, attendees will also be the first to receive the program update.

The company considers version 5.0 a major update of the topsOrtho software. It includes a complete overhaul of insurance processes and the ability to file claims electronically. According to the company, the changes were designed to help orthodontic practices save money through more efficient management.

Version 5.0 also includes new patient communication and appointment reminder preferences, as well as a new mechanism for setting up third-party communication integration. Additional updates include faster en masse e-mailing of billing statements, improved Door-To-Door™ mapping technology with Google Maps, better control of images during editing, and refinements to iPortfolio, Letters, and Referrals.
